I bought this item for my 7 month old as he began scooting and after he was able to sit by himself. It was great as it kept him safe while it allowed mom and me to get a break from holding him. In summary the gate is only as good as the baby is not a climber. Once the little guy started crawling and climbing, as he got older, the more the gate becomes unsafe as he can tip it over. The good thing is that we can at least take the panels apart and secure them to the doorways to use as barriers of entry for Jr. Overall it's an ok product. I wish it had a sturdier base so as to get more use out of it for the price.

This play yard gate has been a sound investment. So much so we bought two sets. Once the twins outgrew the play area, we used the fencing to wall off the entertainment center and shelves in the livingroom and kitchen so that they could play in the entire area and we could still keep them (and out stuff) safe.

I bought this to keep our rabbit contained during his daily exercise time. It works for that purpose. It is a little hard to lock together. Easy to fold and unfold.

This is so much better than the first gate I bought from Target. (Avoid the Summer 07060C). Pros: - Sturdy - Well made - Super-tall - Two exensions in the box for multiple-wdiths. - It automatically closes. Cons: - Product price - Target's shipping charge Be sure to see the photos under customer images.

We bought two of these gates, black and white. One is used for our two large dogs and the other is at the top of our stairs for our toddler's safety and to keep our cats upstairs, safe from cat-unfriendly dogs. They are sturdy, easy to install and use. We live in an old home with uneven door frames and have to use wood shims on the stairwell gate. It still works great and only occasionally needs to be re-adjusted. I highly recommend this product.

I am the mother of three and for my 18 month old boy this works very well. You can hear when it closes. It can open both ways. The extra height is also a great feature. My little boy is strong and very smart, and this gate met him on both levels. It is easy to use for my seven old. And looks great in the house. This is a great buy.

We bought this for my daughter when she was 18 months old. We did have to cut one end to accomodate the baby gate at the top of the stairs, which was easy to trim. We opted to use anchors to screw the rail into the wall. It does seem sturdy enough to lean on for support for a child, even though it is meant for balance. The diameter of the rail is easy for my daughter to grab, although she's still a bit short for it and only uses the rail coming downstairs not upstairs.

This rail is so über-cool!! My physically-cautious two year-old can feel very confident about going down the stairs with this rail, and so can I. Installed, it is completely stable. My rail sticks out a little farther than the Kidco model means for it to, but screwing into a small shim makes it just as good.

This is a great product! I had tried several other kinds of baby gates before purchasing this one and this is by far the best. It's super easy to use, even one-handed, and it looks nice, not all plastic-ey, like most other gates. It is a little more expensive than other gates, but well worth the extra money.

I really like the look of this gate. At first I would have rated it a 5, but with only 4 months use, our two year old was able to break the latch device on the bottom. Now one gate swings freely, and the other we have swings freely in one direction. Also, even though I tightened the gate as tight as humanly possible, the upper latch never really catches with all of the work being done by the now worthless lower latch. When it worked, it was nice, but no longer.

They are fine....I guess nobody is perfect.....had to end up drilling them to the wall & baseboard because my daughter kept on shaking them and we were affraid they were going to colapse! Now they are fine....who knows until when!

We actually bought this gate to keep our new puppy in the kitchen and couldn't be happier with it. Is is very sturdy, easy to use and install and best of all it looks very nice. The gates we had previously (for our son as a baby) were nowhere near as stable and were quite ugly. This is great, especially if you have a wider opening. It comes with 2 extensions allowing it to fit a variety of opening widths right out of the box.

I have used this gate in a wide kitchen doorway without the permanent mounts, and it is now in use at the top of the stairs with the mounts. I used the included extensions both times. The extensions being included makes this gate a real value! The gate is there to contain our 1 year old, but it is very easy for my 5 year old to use. Also, my 5 year old is autistic and has really abused this gate by slamming it shut and running into it. It has stood up admirably. My favorite feature is the height of the gate. When I'm carrying the baby or an armload of laundry, I don't have to stoop over to get the gate open. Great product, I would buy another one.

This gate works and looks nice, but we are more satisfied with our other type of gate, so we are returning it. You have to push a small latch, then lift up on the entire gate to open it, which is not easy when you are carrying a baby. It swings closed, but doesn't always latch. The wood looks nice and is good quality, but when you open the gate to almost 90 degrees, it makes a loud popping noise, which isn't nice if your baby is asleep. The First Years metal gate with foot pedal release is the best choice in our opinion.

This gate looked like a perfect solution from the picture on the box. However, there are definitely some things that need to be disclosed. See those black hinges? That's not metal. It's plastic...very cheap and flimsy plastic at that. The gate locks in place at the top and bottom, however, because the plastic hingest are flimsy, the top part may unlock and move outward while the bottom point is still locked in. This can be somewhat dangerous so you really have to make sure that both points are open. Another thing to keep in mind is that the text on the box advertises that the gate expands to 40.5". It also says that two extensions are included so there's nothing extra to buy. Well, keep in mind that the base width of 40.5" does include the two extensions. After buying this, I also purchased the First Years Hands-Free Gate which turned out to be a very solid and well-made product. Check that one out instead. I'm considering buying a second First Years gate to replace this one altogether.

I bought this gate because it seemed sturdy and was nicer looking than most. Within 6 months, the main part of the gate fell apart and the pieces that hold it to the frame snapped. Had it been at the top of the steps instead of in the kitchen, my daughter would have fallen down the steps. Please do not waste your money on this gate.

I have bought many, many baby gates for the purpose of containing my ferrets....eventually they always figure out how to get over it! It has been weeks and they can't get over it....truly a excellent choice for a ferret gate!

I purchased this gate because we adopted a new dog and as he's a mix of Rottweiler and Doberman, he's very tall. This gate has allowed him to see our 4 cats, but has kept them safe. This is a very good quality product and I would recommend it to everyone.

    3. Star FullStar FullStar FullStar FullStar Full Posted: Jun 28 2008

I am very pleased with this gate and for the price I paid through Amazon. It is tall enough to keep most of my dogs from jumping over. If you have a high jumper, they will probably be able to clear the jump though. Three of my dogs can still jump over it if they wanted to. The pressure mount is so easy to use. I also like the clear plastic. It keeps pets from "nosing" each other, but allows tham to still see each other. The only problem I encountered was when I first opened the gate to desired length-it was stuck pretty good and I had to really apply pressure to loosen it.
