I checked out drop side crib in Babies r us and also in some local stores but did not find what i was looking for. Finally I settled with Da Vinci Crib. Assembly was pretty easy as I have assembled a lot of stuff from Ikea so this one was a piece of cake. This crib is very sturdy and it surpassed my expectations. I bought it for $280 with free shipping. You cannot find this sturdy product for this price anywhere else. Highly recommend for someone who is looking from drop side crib

We haven't had our baby yet, but after the 3 hours my husband spent putting together, it looks pretty nice. Some of the holes weren't drilled correctly and he had to use an electric drill to correct them, but after he finally figured this out it wasn't bad putting the rest together. Additionally, be careful putting together the drawer underneath - it is flimsy and easy to break if you don't follow the instructions to a t. But overall it looks expensive and matches many other "dark cherry" furniture pieces from other manufacturers.

We received our crib in great condition. It was well protected in its box with no scratches and every piece of hardware was included. The directions for assembling it weren't terrible, but it would be nice if the pieces had stickers labeling them. It would also be nice if the manufacturer would have assembled the legs and curved top piece onto the sides before sending it because that was the most difficult part to put together correctly. We did have to try a couple orientations to get the right way where the holes matched up. If you find the predrilled holes don't match up for you try switching the front to the back and vice versa because they are directional. We found it helpful to use a small flashlight to check if the holes aligned. Also we found one of the screws wouldn't "bite" at first because the hole was plugged deep down inside with sawdust. Overall it took my husband, with my small assistance, just under two hours to assemble. The crib does look beautiful and much better quality than those offered in your local super store. The wood will scratch if you accidently scrape a tool over it while assembling it, but not bad enough to not be able to be covered up with one of those crayon-like things for touching up stained wood. The wood hardness is similar to most solid wood furniture out there.
