Expandable Pet Gate

In ancient times, mankind raised wolves for companionship and survival in a harsh, uncaring world. They gave us their devotion and unconditional love. We made them a part of our family, before deciding they weren’t cute enough. Then we made labradoodles and purse dogs. Today’s dogs come in every shape and size, and there is sure to be the perfect dog for every family. As long as the dogs are properly trained and exercised, that is. Otherwise, expect to have problems ranging from a chewed up slipper to the utter destruction of all things living room. No matter the dog, a good idea would be an expandable pet gate. Use one or two to block off all dog-free rooms. For a little peace at least.

The actual choosing of the dog is arguably the easiest part of the whole equation. Easiest and smartest bet, go to the pound, find a healthy-looking mutt, go home happy. The local pound makes sure the dogs have all their shots, are spayed or neutered, and (most importantly) that they pass behavioral tests. Tests like the, “I don’t bite people who scratch my ear wrong,” test. The alternative to the pound is a breeder or puppies from somebody local. Purebreds tend to have more health issues and they cost thousands of dollars more than their pound brethren. On the flip side they look classier, and if they pass all those breeder tests they have the potential of making thousands of dollars annually in breeder fees. Local puppies are just whatever neighbor had a litter and wants to give a few away. Arguably the cheapest, but the puppies will need shots, vet visits and proper training.

Pet gates are essential for any energetic pet, especially if he or she is a bit too adventurous for his or her own good. A good solid gate can prevent any new puppy or kitten having an accident on a busy street or from escaping before it is acclimated at home. There are multiple types of pet gates, and picking the correct type for each situation is crucial.

One common type of gate is the pressure gate, which is an expandable pet gate made for placing between two walls. This is a temporary wall which is quick to set up, and without needing to drill holes in the walls. These walls are good to provide a temporary wall in a hallway to rope off small dogs.

Another common wall is a sturdier hardware mounted wall. These are directly drilled into the wall and are more permanent than other walls. This is good for placing on top of the staircases, because it won’t fall over or have any chance of being knocked over.

A third type is the free standing gate. This is somewhat like a security panel, made of three sections which stand up. This type of gate is good for very temporary use, such as outdoor or while on the go.
